Cancer care support / ONCOLOGY MASSSAGE

Gentle, informed massage and bodywork can help manage challenging chemotherapy side effects, reduce surgical and other pain, such as chemotherapy induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN), and improve quality of sleep. Pediatric oncology massage and comfort touch are also available. Care is available to promote scar tissue strength and flexibility, including scars received from radiotherapy. Oncology massage and bodywork for cancer survivors bolster energy levels, soothe the nervous system, and reduce tension while working in a manner that is mindful of bone health safety and minimizing lymphedema risk.

Massage therapy can be helpful for emotional support, especially as many people receiving cancer treatment continue to be isolated for COVID-19 safety while their communities discontinue safety measures. I continue to observe strict COVID-19 precautions, including up-to-date vaccination/boosters, use of a good quality, well-fitted respirator when sharing air with people outside my household, and avoiding poorly ventilated indoor spaces, airline travel, and large in-person gatherings. If you have any questions at all about COVID-19 safety and massage, let’s talk! It’s really important that clients be giving informed consent and feel as safe as possible when receiving massage therapy.
