Prenatal YOGA HOME CARE

MamaSpace Yoga® is a method of Making Room for Babies® developed by Carol Gray, LMT, CST, RPYT, and is a safe option for beginner and advanced yoga practitioners alike. I have studied with Carol to teach clients appropriate poses that can be helpful home care for many of pregnancy’s common discomforts as well as valuable preparation for pain-coping and relaxation during labor and birth. The intake and assessments involved in a typical bodywork/massage session (which is already designed to enhance mobility) provide information about chronic postural and movement habits and what poses may be most helpful to address:

  • the effects of seated occupations such as desk/computer work or driving

  • core strengthening

  • nausea and morning sickness

  • digestion and elimination challenges

  • back and hip pain/tension

  • anxiety, stress, or insomnia

  • pelvic floor strengthening and relaxation

A critical component of MamaSpace Yoga® is Making Room for Babies®. When babies have abundant room to move in the pelvis during pregnancy, they have better opportunities for mobility during the birth process; babies who have optimal pelvic mobility are more likely to have labor progress efficiently, with less need for augmentation. There are MamaSpace Yoga® poses supporting pelvic mobilization and healthy alignment that give your baby lots of opportunities for safe movement while helping you feel good during pregnancy!
